A 1-1 mentoring partnership for consultancy owners with 5-15 staff and revenue between $500k - $1.5M.
Together, let's steady your pipeline, simplify your delivery, and do more of the work you love - without simply working longer hours.
Most consultancy owners I chat to describe the same three patterns:
1. Inconsistent pipeline.
Some good months; some lean months. The feast and famine cycle is stressful - especially in payroll weeks.
2. Stressful delivery.
Projects depend on you personally. Even though you've got talented staff, you still feel the weight of every project.
3. Working too hard.
You’ve built freedom for your team and clients, but not for yourself. It's really hard to turn off that work-brain, even when you know you should!
If you were larger, you'd have a Board of Directors to help you stay on strategy, but you're too small for that.
(And let's celebrate that smallness; it's awesome to be agile.)
However, without a strategic partner, it's easy to fall into the trap of working really hard for your business, your team and your clients - without seeing the benefits for yourself.
In 2018, I joined as the first-ever employee of Business Lab, a community engagement consultancy.
After coming on as partner a year later, we tripled revenue and grew to a 6-person team. Our podcast reached the top 10 in its niche and we had a blast.
Along the way, I went deep into what it takes to lead a profitable, fulfilling and impactful consultancy. (Lots of failed experiments...!)
Now, I love working with consultancy owners who want to make a similar shift (with a few less failed experiments).
While this isn't a cookie-cutter programme, there are a few consistent elements.
1. Discovery
We begin with some strategy and planning work. We want to reconnect to your dream for the business, as we can often lose sight of this in the day-to-day hustle.
2. Roadmap
Together, we create a 12-month roadmap and agree on a first area to focus on. (Yes, just one area.)
3. Implement, with support and accountability.
We meet regularly for focused coaching sessions. Between calls, we'll work together to address roadblocks and keep things moving. You get full access to me.
4. Review and improve
Every quarter, we review progress and tweak your focus, so your growth (whatever that means for you) stays aligned with your goals.
Yearly strategic planning session: In this longer session, we step back and think bigger about where to take your business.
Fortnightly or monthly 1:1 coaching calls: Here's where we set direction and problem-solve together. Some people like these fortnightly; some like monthly. All fine by me. And if we need extra sessions, we make them happen.
Tailored tools: When you need them, I can share my templates for proposals, projects, IP development, sales, marketing etc... You don't have to reinvent the wheel.
Guidance when you need it: Got a tricky client situation? Not sure how to price something up? Stressing about a team member? I'm on call to listen, coach, and advise.
Super simple.
It's $1,300 (ex GST) per month - for a 12-month commitment.
If you want me to run an in-person session - perhaps involving your team, for instance - it's an extra $5,000 (ex GST) per session. Expenses are added on top of that.
All up, it's less than the cost of a part-time junior... and far more valuable.
Clients typically see measurable improvements within the first quarter:
A steadier pipeline that pays for itself
Way less stress about team and client issues
Excitement and clarity about where you're taking the business.
There are a number of reasons why my clients choose me. These include:
Around 2-3 hours a month for calls and collaboration, with far more than that freed up by what we do together!
My sweet spot is at the intersection of three things: 1) You're purpose-driven, not just profit-driven 2) You've got between 5-20 staff and 3) You're running a professional services consultancy or firm. If that's you, then we're away and laughing.
Of course. I’d be happy to connect you with somebody so you can hear what this looks like in practice.
